I am sat, in the dark, trying to decide whether the baby is waking up and will want a feed or if she’s just trying to imitate as many farmyard animals as she can. As I do so, I just took the chance to look at my calendar and see what’s coming up on the horizon. From out of the gloom it suddenly appears that in just six and a half weeks the Sutton 10km is taking place.
The Sutton 10km, hosted by Sutton Runners, is not a race I’ve done before, but I have done parkrun at Nonsuch a couple of times so I vaguely know the area. It is the second race in the Surrey Road League. I’m not sure how many of the others I am going to be able to participate in this year.
At this stage I can’t be thinking anything ambitious with regards to a target time; I simply don’t seem to be able to string together any decent stretches of training at the minute. However, I cannot yet shift the dream of a sub 40.
Do any of you have tips for how I go about training smart to run fast at Sutton 10km? Is there a good plan online that you can recommend?
